かつてインド東岸のサントメ(SanTome）から日本に入ってきた縞模様の木綿の織地を桟留縞と名付けました。その後、江戸後期に舶来の縞模様を模した木綿織物を【唐桟（とうざん）】と呼ぶようになり、幕末には大変流行したそうです。細い糸で織られた生地は洗いざらしのような自然な風合い持たせる「ワッシャー加工」を施し、糸の溜まりが表情を豊かにします。落ち着いた優しい色合いの【紺】【えんじ】【グリーン】【オレンジ】の４色をご用意しました。柔らかくとても手触りの良い布地です。
