A documentary film "Tower of the Sun" will be released on Saturday, September 29, 2018. The soundtrack, created by electronic musician JEMAPUR, is now available.
The Tower of the Sun, designed and built by artist Taro Okamoto as part of the theme pavilion for the historic 1970 Japan World Exposition (Osaka Expo), which was the first international exposition in Asia. Why did Taro Okamoto create the Tower of the Sun? The mystery of the Tower of the Sun is now revealed. Interviews were conducted with a total of 29 people, including those influenced by Taro Okamoto. The film features discussions not only on art theory but also on Taro Okamoto as a crystallization of sociology, archaeology, folklore, and philosophy, revealing the messages embedded in the Tower of the Sun.

In addition to his own works, JEMAPUR, who is also active as a music producer for the electronic music unit Young Juvenile Youth with vocalist Yuu Hime, has created his first full-length film soundtrack. Director Koji Sekine, who has collaborated with many artists including Young Juvenile Youth, was tasked with "reviewing, destroying, and reconstructing his own music production methods." The electronic elements characteristic of JEMAPUR's existing image are subdued; instead, musicians were invited, and all sounds, tones, and rhythms were conducted, then edited to fit the story of the visuals. This work not only serves as a soundtrack for the film but also showcases a new aspect of JEMAPUR as a musician.

About the artist
■JEMAPUR■
Electronic musician and sound designer. Began producing using computers around 2001. Influenced strongly by early net-label scene communities such as Eerik Inpuj Sound and #//. In 2002, co-founded SAAG Records with Sabi, releasing several works of bizarre ambient and IDM from both domestic and international artists before going on hiatus. Currently based in Kyiv, Ukraine, working with FF'Space, researching areas where sound itself can influence and expand perception through micro-sampling and algorithmic composition. Has released four albums through labels such as Hydeout Productions, W+K Tokyo Lab., Phaseworks, BETA, and Detroit Underground. In addition to his own works, he continues active production as a music producer for the electronic music unit Young Juvenile Youth with vocalist Yuu Hime. Recently, he has expanded his activities into various fields, including composing the soundtrack for the experiential art film "KAMUY" directed by Shoda Yukihiro. For the first time, he was responsible for creating the full soundtrack for the entire film "Tower of the Sun".
