This is a global hit film directed by Paul Verhoeven, known for "RoboCop" and "Basic Instinct," starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone. The film, which depicts the near future, is considered a masterpiece that represents the culmination of the exceptional technique of the maestro Goldsmith, who has a career of over 40 years as a musician, and can be said to be one of the representative works of his later career. With the National Philharmonic Orchestra before him, he himself conducted, this is the definitive soundtrack for a spectacular action film that fuses synthesizers and orchestra, creating a storm of exciting sound and overwhelming spectacle. In this release, Disc 1 contains the tracks as written and performed by Goldsmith, in the order they were used in the film. On the other hand, Disc 2 completely reproduces the soundtrack released in 1990, and at the same time, adds alternate tracks and source music. These sound sources total two and a half hours, and have been completely remixed and remastered from the sound sources recorded on digital multi-tracks by Bruce Botnick, who has worked on many of Goldsmith's works. The liner notes are a luxurious 24-page booklet that includes an interview with director Paul Verhoeven.
