Tom Misch's *BeatTape2* marks its 10th anniversary!
Over the past decade, Tom Misch has become one of the most dynamic UK artists. To commemorate the milestone of his influential masterpiece *BeatTape2*, a limited edition gold cassette tape and a record with a handwritten signed art print will be released!
This release also includes the *BeatTape2* mixtape, which was the starting point of the young genius and laid the foundation for his global career, now available as a Japanese obi-ed LP!
*BeatTape2*, released in 2015, features collaborations with many talented artists such as Loile Curner, who also participated in his debut album *Geography*, as well as Alfa Mist, Jordan Rakei, Carmody, and Alexa Harley. The album’s sound is characterized by lo-fi beats heavily influenced by J. Dilla, with crappier snares intertwined with mellow, neo-classic soul-inspired electric piano chords and funky basslines. Above all, Tom Misch’s signature smooth guitar techniques had already reached a high level of perfection at this point. This album was a significant turning point that elevated him from an underground producer to a prominent figure in South London’s music scene. Throughout the album, the dominant element is high-quality soulful sound, built on a J. Dilla-inspired beat foundation, complemented by sophisticated chord progressions and dynamic arrangements led by live instruments centered around guitar. The sound exudes a refined, introspective contemporary vibe that belies his age—only 20 at the time. This masterpiece, which already demonstrated his unique talent before his major breakthrough, is a must-have for fans.
