Tom Misch, one of the most dynamic UK artists of the past decade. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of his masterpiece "BeatTape2," which was a turning point in his career, an ultra-limited edition gold cassette tape and a vinyl record with a handwritten signed art print will be released!
The two mixtapes, which mark the starting point of this young genius and laid the foundation for his global career, are also being released on Japanese obi-strip LPs!
Released in 2015, "BeatTape2" features collaborations with many emerging artists such as his close friend Loyle Carner (who also participated in his debut album "Geography"), Alfa Mist, Jordan Rakei, Carmody, and Alexa Harley. The lo-fi beats, heavily influenced by J Dilla, are intertwined with snappy snares, layered with neo-classic soul-inspired electric piano chords and funky basslines. Above all, Tom Misch's signature smooth guitar technique was already at its peak at this point. This work was a major catalyst that propelled him from an underground producer to a representative figure of the South London music scene. The dominant element throughout the album is high-quality soulfulness. While based on J Dilla-inspired beats, the sophisticated and introspective contemporary sound, which is hard to believe was created by a then 20-year-old, can be heard alongside the meticulously crafted chord progressions and dynamic, guitar-centric, live instrument-driven song development. This is a masterpiece that fans must have, demonstrating his already unique talent before his major breakthrough.
