Product Description
A surprising Christmas present arrives for Gin, Hana, and Miyuki, a trio of homeless people living in Tokyo. They discover a newborn baby in a pile of trash. Naming her "Kiyoko" on their own and becoming her godparents, the trio wanders the snowy city searching for her parents. What "miracle" will the homeless people, who live by surviving in the underbelly of Tokyo, encounter amidst their rapidly changing "destiny"?

This is the third feature-length animated film by director Satoshi Kon, known for "PERFECT BLUE" and "Millennium Actress." On Christmas night, three homeless individuals—Gin, a former keirin racer; Hana, a former drag queen; and Miyuki, a runaway girl—find a baby in a dumpster. As they begin searching for the baby's mother, they become involved in various incidents. Eventually, they find the mother... This story, set in contemporary Tokyo, is a slapstick comedy, or perhaps more accurately, a "slapstick miracle."

While realistically depicting the city of Tokyo, the film utilizes exaggerated expressions typical of animation, creating a casual atmosphere. The script (a collaboration between Satoshi Kon and Keiko Nobumoto of "Cowboy Bebop") is brilliant, skillfully weaving in the characters' pasts amidst the rapidly unfolding situations. The choice of Keiichi Suzuki and members of The Moonriders for the music is a delightful touch. It is a fine work that leaves a warm afterglow. (Shogo Yasukawa)
