We used high-quality cowhide from the long-established leather company "Tochigi Leather" (formerly Tochigi Hikaku), made by taking high-quality North American raw hides and thoroughly tanning them in original vegetable tannin extract (extracted from Brazilian mimosa bark) for about 20 days, then infusing the resulting specialty vegetable-tanned leather with oil and tannin during the dyeing and fat-liquoring process.
Only 13 to 14 belts can be made from a single hide.
