小津映画「秋日和」「小早川家の秋」「彼岸花」「秋刀魚の味」の女優の着物を手がけた、染織工芸家浦野理一の仕事。昭和35年7月22日の讀賣新聞夕刊に「原節子、三年ぶり小津作品へ スタンダード・カラー「秋日和」に出演」という記事が掲載されました。記事には「小津監督はまず着物だと、原を北鎌倉の染色工芸家浦野理一のところへひっぱっていった。」と書かれています。 小津安二郎監督は、映画「秋日和」「小早川家の秋」「彼岸花」「秋刀魚の味」の女優に浦野理一の着物を採用しました。 同時期、浦野は鎌倉にある東慶寺で映画衣裳や新作の展示会を開催し、雑誌「ミセス」に映画衣裳や新作を着た女優が登場する連載を持つなどして、多くのファンを生みました。 しかし、浦野は「着物作家は表に出るべきではない」と裏方に徹したため、多くのファンがいながら、いまだその人となりは秘められた存在になっています。 小津監督の生誕120年、没後60年にあたる今年刊行する本書で、染織工芸家浦野理一の仕事と人間的魅力に迫ります。
