"The Ultraman" is the first TV anime series in the Ultraman franchise.
This work unfolds a cosmic-scale, futuristic drama with the expressive power of anime, and large-scale action that could never have been achieved with live-action special effects. For this Blu-ray release, all episodes have been remastered in HD. With the latest technology, you can enjoy video from the Showa era in high quality even in the Reiwa era.
■ First HD Remaster of "The Ultraman," including all 50 episodes and the final episode adapted into a feature-length anime film after 45 years.
For this Blu-ray release, all episodes have been restored from 35mm HD telecine footage into beautiful HD video, preserving the unique charm of cel animation. Furthermore, the final four-part episode, "To the Star of Ultraman!!," which featured stellar staff who have colored Japanese animation culture, such as Minoru Otani (a pseudonym for Yoshiyuki Tomino) and Kazutomi Yamaguchi (a pseudonym for Ryosuke Takahashi), has been compiled into a feature-length work, "The Ultraman: To the Star of Ultraman!!," approximately 90 minutes of new footage, and will be included as a bonus.
■ The feature-length anime film version includes new narration by Sumi Shimamoto and new remastering in "Dolby Atmos."
In "The Ultraman: To the Star of Ultraman!!," new narration by Sumi Shimamoto, who voiced the heroine, Mutsumi Hoshikawa, will be included. Furthermore, the video for this film has been newly remastered with the latest audio technology, "Dolby Atmos," for this Blu-ray BOX (monaural audio is also included). You can enjoy it with immersive, enveloping sound on your Dolby Atmos-compatible equipment.
■ Includes luxurious video extras.
In addition, the video extras are planned to include a collection of special interviews with the cast and staff of this work, which were broadcast on the CS program "Ultra Information Bureau" (2009-), as well as valuable footage such as non-telop opening and ending sequences.
