[Story]
The terror began with a single dog. Pursued by a helicopter across a vast, icy wilderness, a dog reaches an American Antarctic research base. When the Norwegian helicopter pilot fires his weapon indiscriminately, the American team is forced to shoot him. Soon, the reason for the Norwegian pilot's extreme distress becomes clear. The dog was actually an alien that arrived on Earth 100,000 years ago! The alien, which assimilates anything it comes into contact with, skillfully transforms into human form. Trapped within the blizzard-bound base, the team members become suspicious of each other. Amidst this, they begin to suspect the suspicious MacReady (Kurt Russell) of being the alien...
