This dance drama, choreographed by Arthur Pita for Edward Watson, is based on Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis." This highly anticipated work, which premiered in 2011 and earned star Watson an Olivier Award, is finally being released on video!
Arthur Pita describes Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis" as a "unique, strange, and timelessly universal" story. This production brings that story to the ballet stage. It premiered in 2011 at the Linbury Studio, the Royal Opera House's mid-scale theatre, and became a sensation, thrilling London's dance fans. Edward Watson's astonishing physical performance weaves the tragic tale of a man transforming into an "insect." Frank Moon's music and Simon Dow's stark, white-based design create a claustrophobic atmosphere, while black liquid painted on the stage depicts the horror of Gregor's transformation.
