同シリーズの成功は音楽を担当したヘンリー・マンシーニによるテーマ曲を含めた功績はあまりに大きい。シリーズは観てなくても、音楽は知っているという人は多く、彼ならではのジャズテイストを織り交ぜた完璧なスパイテーマ曲と言えるものを仕上げた。劇中においても感動的なメロディー、愉快な曲、ロマンチックな曲、アクション曲、音源など、どの曲もマンシーニの持ち味である優雅さとセンスが活かされ、特にここに収録された「ピンク・パンサーの息子」は、マンシーニの遺作であり、またブレイク・エドワーズが監督の最後の作品でもあり、28本の映画とテレビ番組でのコラボレーションの幕を閉じることとなった。
これら3作品のサントラ盤はいずれもすでに廃盤となって久しく、今回はマンシーニが映画のために用意したスコアのすべてが初めて公開され、いくつかの未発表曲や実際の映画版スコアも収録。また音源も修復、リマスタリングされ24ページの豪華なブックレットが挿入されたファン垂涎のBOXセットとなっている。
