Richard Chamberlain, who achieved idol popularity in America in the 60s and appeared in popular works such as "The Towering Inferno" (73), plays Tchaikovsky, who struggles and writhes in the throes of love.
Glenda Jackson, a leading British actress who won two Academy Awards for her roles in Ken Russell's "Women in Love" and "The Music Lovers" (73), and sadly passed away in 2023, plays Nina, his wife, who goes mad when her husband does not desire her.
The climax, filled with madness, sex, and a scene of utter despair, has become legendary, and the film is widely hailed as "Ken Russell's masterpiece."
This destructive masterpiece, which was only released on VHS in Japan for a long time, is finally available on Blu-ray!

■Story
On a snowy night, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, a teacher at the Moscow Conservatory, spends the night with his close friend, Count Anton Shilovsky.
Their relationship becomes the subject of gossip at the conservatory, and Tchaikovsky's future as a musician is jeopardized.
To break off his relationship with Anton, he decides to marry Nina, a female student who is passionately devoted to him.
But this was the beginning of a tragedy...
