David Lee Roth, one of the great figures in rock. His irreverence can be forgiven if you know how foolish he is himself. The provocative humor in "California Girls," and his theatrical singing style reminiscent of musical actress Ethel Merman in "It's Showtime" and "Easy Street"... These songs, believe it or not, contain a unique magic that makes you forget the ugly Americanism seen in songs like "Don't Piss Me Off." He is not a particularly great vocalist, nor an especially talented songwriter, but he is a born performer and a true star.
