Chusen is a unique Japanese dyeing technique born in Osaka during the Meiji era.
By pouring dye onto the fabric, it is possible to dye 20 to 30 pieces of cloth at once.
The fabric is folded like an accordion and dyed twice, from the front and back, which is a major characteristic that results in a beautiful finish without distinction between front and back.
The process is extensive and entirely done by hand by artisans. Therefore, no two pieces are exactly alike.
The greatest charm of Chusen lies in its unique texture, created by the delicate shading and soft bleeding unique to handcraft.
