The fabric is Ebara's signature textile, featuring a checkered pattern with a donce gradation technique.
The dyeing process is inspired by the beauty of the "Yohgan Tenmoku Tea Bowl," one of only three national treasures in the world. Skilled artisans first apply gradient dyeing to blend multiple colors, then spray another dye in a speckled pattern. Furthermore, a dye called "nakizai" (literally "crying agent") is used to intentionally shift the colors, resulting in a unique coloration for each piece.
