It uses a hook-and-loop fastener with high shear resistance (resistance to sliding when sticking together) and a large sticking area, making it less likely to come off.

It can be easily removed as if flipping it open, so even those with less strength can easily put it on and take it off.

Is it water-resistant?
It has almost no water resistance.
For items that are troublesome if wet with rain or sweat, please put them in a commercially available zipper bag or similar.

Will keys with a key holder or a smartphone in a case fit?
Depending on size and thickness, but since it is made of highly elastic material, it can probably store items slightly larger than the listed size.
