TAPEWAVES/BRIGHT(LP)
US dream pop duo, TapeWaves. Their 4th album, a new frontier of evolved dream pop, is released in a limited analog edition! TapeWaves is a male-female dream pop duo from Charleston, South Carolina, consisting of Kim and Jarod. They have released three albums to date and gained many fans in Japan with their ephemeral vocals and intertwined lyrical guitar sound, performing in Japan in 2018.
Their latest album, their fourth in total, "Bright," is the first co-release between Emotional Response (USA) and fastcutrecords, run by a member of Boyracer.
A1 "Tired" draws you into the band's world with Kim's ethereal vocals and jangly, intersecting guitar phrases. A2 "InvisibleLines" is a ballad that floats dreamily with a collage of reverse loops. A3 "GetBack" is dark shoegaze reminiscent of early Sonic Youth. The album concludes with two beautiful and epic tracks, B3 "WaitingForTheNight" and B4 "Sundowning," evoking dusk and night.
The ideal soundscape of dream pop, resonating with emerging indie guitar bands like Hazel English and Seapony, combined with the texture of vintage 60s surf sound that seems to flow from a retro cassette player (which is also the origin of the band's name), deeply penetrates the listener's heart.
"Bright," a brilliant album that evokes the storytelling of a fictional short film, is sure to captivate even more listeners.
Limited edition, aqua-colored vinyl.
For Fans of… Beabadoobee, Beach Fossils, Fazerdaze, Hazel English, LIPS, Morning Whim, Real Estate, Seapony etc...
