A slightly different adventure with Mario and friends. 27 years after its release on the Super Famicom, 'Super Mario RPG' is revived on Nintendo Switch with updated graphics.
■Story■ Mario heads to Bowser's castle to rescue Peach. After defeating Bowser and feeling relieved, suddenly a giant sword falls from the sky. The sword pierces Bowser's castle, and the impact blows Mario away, prompting him to search for Peach again. During his journey, Mario learns that the sword stuck in Bowser's castle has broken the 'Star Road,' which grants people's wishes, and the fragments called 'Star Pieces' have scattered across the world. Alongside reliable friends he meets along the way, Mario embarks on an adventure to gather the Star Pieces and restore a peaceful world where wishes come true.
■ Explore fields using jumps■ Use Mario's signature 'jump' action to solve puzzles and explore various fields and dungeons.
■ Friends who adventure with Mario■ 'Maro,' a self-proclaimed frog with a fluffy body, 'Gino,' a messenger from the sky who came to Mario World to retrieve the Star Pieces, and familiar characters like Bowser and Peach from the Mario series join Mario on his adventure.
■ Action command-based battles■ Battle using 'action commands' timed for attack and defense. During monster fights, successful action commands can deal damage to all monsters or reduce damage to Mario to zero. In this game, consecutive successful action commands create a 'chain,' boosting allies' abilities and giving an advantage in battle. For beginners, support features like a '!' mark appearing at just the right timing are available. Additionally, each successful action command fills a gauge. When the gauge reaches 100%, the three active party members can perform a special '3-person move.'
■ Additional features■ After the ending, you can replay some boss battles encountered during the adventure. These bosses are significantly powered up for the rematch. Other features include a 'Monster List' that records various information by battling monsters, and a 'Sound Player' that allows free listening to background music from both the Super Famicom version and Nintendo Switch at any time (available after the ending). An easier difficulty level called 'Enjoy' and adventure support functions have been added, making it enjoyable even for those unfamiliar with battles or RPGs.
