A slightly different adventure with Mario and friends. The game that was released 27 years ago on the Super Famicom, 'Super Mario RPG,' is being revived on Nintendo Switch with updated graphics.
■Story■ Mario heads to Bowser's castle to rescue Peach. After defeating Bowser and feeling relieved! Just then, a giant sword suddenly falls from the sky. The sword pierces Bowser's castle, and the shock blows Mario away. He then sets out again to find Peach. During his journey, Mario learns that the sword stuck in Bowser's castle has broken the 'Star Road,' which grants people's wishes, and the fragments called 'Star Pieces' have scattered across the world. Along with reliable friends he meets along the way, Mario embarks on an adventure to gather the Star Pieces and restore a peaceful world where wishes come true.
■Exploring fields using jumps■ Using Mario's signature 'jump' action, players solve puzzles and explore various fields and dungeons.
■Companions adventuring with Mario■ Mario's friends include 'Malo,' a self-proclaimed frog with a fluffy body, 'Gino,' a messenger from the sky who came to Mario's world to retrieve the Star Pieces, and the familiar characters Bowser and Peach from the Mario series, who join Mario on his adventure.
■Battle using action commands■ Battle system features 'Action Command Battles,' where timing attacks and defenses activates special actions. During battles with monsters, successful action commands can deal damage to all monsters or reduce damage taken to zero. In this game, consecutive successful action commands create a 'Chain,' boosting allies' abilities and giving an advantage in battle. For beginners, support features like a '!' mark that appears at just the right timing are available. Additionally, each successful action command fills a gauge. When the gauge reaches 100%, the three active party members can combine their powers to unleash a special '3-person move.'
■Additional features■ After the ending, players can re-battle some of the bosses encountered during the adventure. These bosses are significantly powered up for the rematches. Other features include a 'Monster List' that records various information by battling monsters, and a 'Sound Player' that allows free listening to background music from both the Super Famicom version and the Nintendo Switch version (available after the ending). The game also introduces an easier difficulty level called 'Enjoy' and added support functions for adventure, making it enjoyable even for those unfamiliar with battles or RPGs.
