In the year 2009, the space battleship Macross, which had encountered the Zentradi, a warrior race, and engaged in battle, was on its way back to Earth. While in Titan orbit in the Saturn region, the ship was subjected to a diversionary attack by the enemy, allowing enemy forces to infiltrate its interior. Meanwhile, inside the ship, which housed a city, idol singer Lynn Minmay was holding her first concert. Minmay flees from the enemy that appears at the concert venue. The moment a giant enemy hand captures Minmay, Hikaru Ichijyo, a pilot of the fighter Valkyrie, appears before her.
