Raised in Florida and Hong Kong before moving to Paris with her British father, the Los Angeles-based Uffie is undeniably a "child of the world." Naturally, the production of this record required many miles of flight distance. After creating the material that would later become "Sunshine Factory" in Fonte da Telha, Portugal, in collaboration with Norwegian artist Lasse Lokøy, Uffie signed with Company Records, the Oakland-based label of Toro y Moi's Chaz Bear (who co-produced several tracks on the album). "Sunshine Factory" exists in a mysterious space between punk and pop. This can be heard in "dominoes," which fuses ska and fashion. Meanwhile, "sophia," which marks the beginning of the creative partnership between Uffie and Chaz, positions "Sunshine Factory" as an otherworldly dance record like something you would hear at the Berlin nightclub Berghain. Additionally, Peaches and NNAMDÏ participate as guests on the album. ● Uffie is the project of Los Angeles-based artist Anna-Catherine Hartley. Signed to Ed Banger Records, she was active in the French electronic music scene of the early 2000s. She achieved much success with tracks like "Pop The Glock," which was posted on MySpace and became the internet's first viral hit, and her 2010 debut album "Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans" was nominated for Best Electronic Album at the French Victoires de la Musique awards. She was also featured on "Tthhee Ppaarrttyy" from the Grammy-nominated album "Cross" by the French electronic duo Justice, and has collaborated with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Charli XCX, and Galantis. Now, more than 10 years after her first album, Uffie has ghostwritten many songs and is credited on records by Pink, Khalid, Greyson Chance, Tegan and Sara, VINCINT, and others.
