From Chara, who celebrated the 10th anniversary of the release of her masterpiece "Junior Sweet" (which recorded sales of 1.2 million copies and featured a wonderful jacket photo holding hands with her husband Tadanobu Asano) after her debut in 1991 for 16 years and 10 years after its release, comes the complete best album "Sugar Hunter~THE BEST LOVE SONGS OF CHARA~". This album thoroughly explores "the feeling of love" and includes her early hits such as "Self-Destruct Device of Love" (1992), "I Fell in Love" (1993), "Why Do I Want to Hug You" (1994), and representative songs like "Swallowtail Butterfly~Ai no Uta~" released under the name "YEN TOWN BAND" (which recorded sales of about 900,000 copies). It is filled with her trajectory of creating a new style of love songs. The album features sharp sound sensibilities exemplified by the rock tune "Skirt" ('01), produced by James Iha (ex-Smashing Pumpkins), and her colorful, deep vocalization, which are of course wonderful. (Tomoyuki Mori)
