● Wing Drag System
A new drag system proposed by SOM, which has been manufacturing lever drag reels for many years. The "Wing Drag", a drag lever shaped like a wing plate, rotates 90 degrees relative to the handle shaft, allowing drag adjustment in 5 positions within that 90 degrees. The adjustment range is approximately 500g per position. Since the relative position of the wing drag and the handle arm does not change even when the handle is rotated, the drag can be adjusted instantly during a fight.
● 2-Speed Level Winder / Direct Drive Specification
The reciprocating speed of the level winder is made into 2 speeds, a system where the "outward trip is dense winding" and the "return trip is cross winding". This achieves both the smoothness of line release during drag operation with dense winding and during falls, and the prevention of trouble caused by line biting with cross winding. Of course, the level winder operates with a direct specification linked to the spool rotation.
● High Durability Clutch System
Most clutch components (clutch bar and clutch cam) in small baitcasting reels of the same class are made of resin. In contrast, the Blue Safari achieves strength and durability of one class higher by making the clutch components stainless steel. Furthermore, by applying DLC coating to the clutch bar, friction at the contact points of the clutch cam, post, and pinion gear is significantly reduced, realizing smooth clutch operation even under high load or during long-term use.
