Jiro Asada
Born in Tokyo in 1951. Won the Eiji Yoshikawa Newcomer Award for Literature for "Riding the Subway" in 1995. Won the Naoki Prize for "Poppoya" in 1997, the Renzo Shibata Prize for "Mibu Gishi Den" in 2000, the Ryotaro Shiba Prize for "O-naka Meshi-mase" in 2006, the Eiji Yoshikawa Prize for Literature for "Rainbow over the Central Plains" in 2008, and the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award for "The Unfinished Summer" in 2010.
