■ Additional Product Information ■
"Spider-Man" is a Japanese manga by Ryoichi Ikegami.
It began as an adaptation of Marvel Comics' "Spider-Man" and was serialized in "Monthly Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) from the January 1970 issue through the September 1971 issue.
The initial story was an adaptation of the original, with Peter Parker replaced by Yu Komori and New York replaced by Tokyo.
However, the style gradually evolved, and the series developed a strong sense of originality.
There are episodes where Spider-Man does not play an active role or appears only briefly.
In the early stages, adapted versions of Marvel supervillains such as Electro, the Lizard, and Mysterio appeared, but they were portrayed as characters with tragic backstories and met their deaths in their debut episodes, taking a different direction from the originals.
Later, Uchida introduced Ryoichi Ikegami to Ono.
While translating the original version, Ono also compiled his own interpretations into written form.
Additionally, Ono wrote a letter to Stan Lee requesting reference materials.
However, he left the direction of the work up to Ikegami and the editorial department.
Later, Stan Lee commented, "This manga is different from our Spider-Man. I don’t know how to evaluate it."
