This killer jazz-funk album, featuring guest appearances by Hancock, Ron Carter, and others, with a groovy cover of "Sunny," is guaranteed to blow you away!

This is a rare and unusual album among the leader works of Sonny Stitt, known as a prolific artist in the jazz world!

This album, released on the label Jamal, run by pianist Ahmad Jamal, features an astonishing lineup of prominent artists including Herbie Hancock (p, key), Ron Carter (b), Grady Tate (ds), Gene Bertoncini (g), and Bucky Pizzarelli (g). They deliver high-quality performances with their undeniable musicianship. While Sonny's 4-beat playing is excellent, the highlight is undoubtedly the superb jazz-funk numbers fitting for the recording year of 1970. Standards like "Out of This World" and "Summertime" are covered with surprising jazz groove interpretations, and the over-five-minute high-speed cover of "Sunny" is irresistible! Grady Tate's relentless drumming will stir your soul. The funk track "Opus I," composed by arranger Dave Ward, is also wonderfully executed!
