◆ Kitamura Seicha's Tea Field Development and Organic Cultivation
In 1957, the founder, Chiji Kitamura, began cultivating tea fields with the grand dream of creating a tea field on a rocky, wooded land at the summit of a mountain 360 meters above sea level with steep slopes. He personally built a small factory to process the tea. In 1969, in response to customer requests to "grow tea organically," they began their organic cultivation efforts, which do not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

◆ Difficulties in Organic Cultivation of Tea Leaves
In the first few years of organic tea cultivation, they struggled with pests and diseases, and the harvest yield decreased to one-third of the previous amount. The family worked together, experimenting and refining their methods, and finally saw progress in 1975. Because Kitamura Seicha's tea fields are located on a mountain, pesticides from other tea fields do not drift onto their land. Weed control is done entirely by hand, without the use of herbicides, even for weeds on the ridges. They also focus on soil improvement by using compost, oil cakes, and wood vinegar to create strong tea plants, and use vinegar, brown sugar, and garlic to prevent diseases and pests.
