The "Smash Court" series is a tennis game derived from Namco's "Family Tennis." This title is the first in the series to appear on PlayStation 2.
A major difference from previous titles in the series is the appearance of famous world-class players such as Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, Sampras, and Agassi, who are realistically modeled in 3D. Not only their facial expressions but also their individual movements, from serves to strokes and volleys, are perfectly rendered. While the controls have been slightly adjusted to match this, it remains easy to enjoy. The main "Arcade Mode" has the goal of winning all four major tennis tournaments in the world, and can be enjoyed in both singles and doubles. "Pro Tournament Mode" is a mode where you advance through the rounds from the first match of each tournament, and points earned here can be exchanged for various items.
Additionally, in "Challenge Mode" and "Time Attack Mode," achieving good results will issue a password, allowing you to compete with other players on Namco's website. Of course, there is also "Exhibition Mode" to enjoy a single match.
