プレーヤーは連合軍を指揮し、街道の両側から襲撃するドイツ軍部隊の妨害を排除し、空挺部隊と地上部隊の連携でアルンヘムへの突破をめざす。
プレーヤーは、ドイツ軍の増援がいつ、どこから侵攻してくるか、事前に全く予測できないため、連合軍が予測した戦線で上手くドイツ軍の反撃が食い止められる場合もあるが、
逆に連合軍の予想していない場所から不意にドイツ軍の急襲を受ける場合もあり、従来のゲームとは全く異なる不確実性と戦場の霧によるスリルに満ちたプレーを体験することが可能になる。
