こんなものが残っていたとは驚きの音源が日の目を見ました。コンドラシンとフランス国立放送管一期一会のショスタコーヴィチの交響曲第8番。コンドラシンによる同曲録音は3種が残されていますが、いずれも彼の手兵モスクワ・フィルによるもので、演奏は物凄いものの1961年のメロディア盤は音が悪すぎ、1967年4月20日Altus盤の東京ライヴは日本ツアー最終日でオケに疲れが見えており、1969年9月29日のPraga盤のプラハ・ライヴも音が万全とは言えませんでした。それゆえ、当1969年2月5日シャンゼリゼ劇場ライヴはファン狂喜の出現と申せましょう。
ショスタコーヴィチの交響曲第8番は、独ソ戦さなかの1943年、ソ連軍が攻勢に転じつつある時期に作曲されました。希望の光の見え出した時に作曲されながら、高揚感や喜びの感情は薄く、勝利を願いながらその先にあるであろう不安におびえるマーラー風の屈折感に満ちています。旧ソ連きってのマーラー指揮者だったコンドラシンが絶妙に表現。とは言っても内省的演奏ではなく、ムラヴィンスキーと比べ高カロリーで暴力的な激しさに満ちています。テンポや解釈はPraga盤と似ていますが、ニュアンスや臨場感は比べ物にならないほどの凄さ。ついにコンドラシンの8番の凄さをあますところなく記録した録音の登場となります。
