Spheros SW

Equipped with X-Shield technology boasting waterproof performance equivalent to IPX-8, as well as X-Protect, X-SHIP, HAGANE body, and other technologies, the Spheros SW is designed to withstand harsh saltwater scenes.

The 2021 model further adds Infinity Drive, HAGANE gear, and Carbon Cross Washer, enhancing durability and performance. The adoption of HAGANE gear and a machined aluminum handle reduces weight by 50-85g compared to the previous model. It covers five key items: 5000HG, 6000HG, 6000PG, 8000HG, and 8000PG, suitable for a wide range of games from jigging to casting, both shore and offshore.

Always maintain the lead with lightweight, powerful winding

The traditional X-SHIP structure supported by bearings at both ends of the pinion gear enables light winding. The current model features an evolved Infinity Drive structure, supporting the main shaft with a special low-friction bush instead of contact with the pinion gear, significantly reducing sliding resistance. Additionally, the main shaft has a special surface treatment, further lowering friction. This evolution reduces rotational torque by about 30% compared to previous models, making the reel more powerful and capable of active winding even under high load.

HAGANE gear

Aiming for unchanged winding feel.

Metal blocks are pressed with high pressure and finished with micron-level precision without machining. This unique technology, called precision cold forging, produces gears that are hard and tough, enabling smooth winding.

X-Shield

The drive gear's large diameter, the arrangement of the pinion and drive gears, and two-point support by bearings on the pinion gear. These robust gear meshing ensure strong load resistance and smooth reeling.

HAGANE body

Using lightweight yet rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium, it effectively suppresses flex, distortion, and twisting of the reel. It maintains delicate gear engagement and allows smooth reeling.

Infinity Drive

Powerful winding that always maintains control.

The traditional X-SHIP structure, which achieves light winding, has been further evolved into the Infinity Drive structure. Supporting the main shaft with a special low-friction bush significantly reduces sliding resistance, and applying a special surface treatment to the main shaft further reduces rotational torque. This evolution allows the reel to actively wind even under high load.

X-Shield

Sealing at the body lid contact surface, spool drag knob contact parts, and other areas blocks water ingress paths, ensuring durability in harsh conditions during SW games.

X-Protect

Shimano's proud waterproof structure.

For small to medium general-purpose reels, which require lighter rotation, a contactless structure is used to maintain rotation ease. In addition to water-repellent treatment, a labyrinth structure that suppresses water intrusion is combined, achieving high waterproof performance without contact. This is used in stopper bearing parts and line roller parts. For larger saltwater reels, which demand higher waterproof performance, a contact-type waterproof structure is adopted. Using low-friction seal components physically blocks seawater entry, ensuring high waterproof performance while maintaining low rotational resistance. This is used in stopper bearing parts and line roller parts, with the stopper bearing part achieving an IPX8 equivalent waterproof standard.

AR-C spool

A spool with a special spool ring shape. This creates line rectification effects, reducing line troubles and achieving both long casting and smooth line management.

Precision cold-forged HAGANE gear

Upgraded from zinc die-cast gears to precision cold-forged HAGANE gears, increasing strength. The gear's weight is also reduced, contributing to overall reel lightweighting.
