The Colt Sniper SS, which further pursues lightness and strength, is designed for targeting large bluefish. What is required of a shore jigging rod is to enable light and long-lasting lure operation for encounters with unpredictable targets. It combines lightweight weight for easy handling and power to support confident fighting after hooking bluefish. The Colt Sniper SS aims to balance these inherently conflicting elements at a high level, achieving further power increase in the blank compared to the previous model without sacrificing weight. Additionally, the grip and joint parts incorporate technologies used in flagship models, pursuing a usability comparable to higher-end models.

The secret to balancing the lightness and strength of the blank lies in Shimano's technologies Spiral X and High Power X. Spiral X is a three-layer structure where carbon tape is diagonally wrapped in opposite directions on the inner and outer layers of the rod's vertical fibers. It enhances instant power transfer in all fishing actions, from casting to fighting fish, supporting comfortable fishing by allowing the rod to perform at its full potential. High Power X is a technology that further tightens the blank with carbon tape in an X-shape, reducing twisting during fights and casts. Using these proprietary blank designs, Shimano achieves a balance of lightness and strength.

Screw Lock Joint
The Screw Lock Joint is Shimano's proprietary technology that connects the blanks by screwing them together. It prevents fixation issues in the rod, reduces play and misalignment at the joint during use, and prevents accidental damage during high-stress actions like casting. In shore jigging, where fighting large fish is expected, it is important to prevent loosening of the joint to fully utilize the blank's power. It is also easy to connect by aligning with a marker, which is a feature of this technology.
