Are diving pencils and poppers the only effective topwater lures for SW big game? Can these lures overcome all situations? These questions prompted the development of the Screw Drive 180F / 180F Flash HBOOST. The goal was to create a third appeal performance that cannot be achieved by diving pencils or poppers. The concept for the Screw Drive 180F / 180F Flash HBOOST was inspired by prop baits designed for targeting large freshwater species like muskies and pikes. The propeller's rotation creates water flow and sound that can attract fish from a wide area, and this was thoroughly built into a SW-specific design. The Screw Drive 180F / 180F Flash HBOOST has been elevated to a dedicated SW big game lure.

The Screw Drive 180F / 180F Flash HBOOST is a lure with the basic concept that the propeller attached to the rear of the body grabs water and rotates, generating bubbles and sound. It maintains a stable "popping" action with a "poko-poko" sound when retrieved steadily. It can also produce a "gobbo" popping action with short jerks. Additionally, because the weight is located at the rear of the body and the propeller is always submerged, it is less prone to misaction even in rough water. It remains on the water surface persistently, continuing its action even in surface conditions where poppers or diving pencils might roll over. Even in situations with high expectations for big fish, but where lure operation is difficult, the Screw Drive 180F / 180F Flash HBOOST offers a chance for bites.

Uses two types of normal large prop fins for versatile actions.

The included two types of prop fins, normal large and others, are easily interchangeable. The standard is the normal size, which allows high-speed action. For effective high-speed winding, non-stop jerks, or fast-paced long jerks, the normal fin is recommended. The large size offers even greater appeal than the normal size. It is effective for slow retrieves, slow-paced short jerks, or situations where a large, vigorous appeal over a wide area is desired, such as targeting tuna or GT, with a popping action that minimizes movement distance.

The body is divided into two parts, with a structure where a wire runs through and a propeller is attached to a rotating part. The Screw Drive 180F / 180F Flash HBOOST clears both the key elements of distance and strength at a high level for SW big game. Initially, during development, resistance from the propeller caused deceleration and wobbling during casting. However, through thorough testing of body shape and weight balance, we achieved a distance that does not cause stress to the angler, comparable to diving pencils. The wire passing through the propeller part also ensures strength, meeting Shimano's proprietary strength standards for offshore casting.
