The Graviter 220SF, equipped with another armor boost mechanism specialized for manipulation, is a glide bait that anglers can intentionally set for big fish. It features a compact body that folds to overcome the critical weakness of joint baits, which is the rotation of the lure during casting.

The armor boost, which folds the body compactly, overcomes the fatal weakness of joint baits, which is the rotation during casting. It achieves long-distance casting performance and accuracy that overturn the traditional image of joint baits.

Developed with the challenge of balancing a wide range of glide actions and casting performance.

Since its debut, the armor joint has demonstrated overwhelming fishing ability nationwide. It has regained lost distance and casting accuracy caused by air resistance during casting, making it a remarkable big bait. It also expresses a seductive action that surpasses others and has a structure that greatly reduces missed bites, earning high praise. The technology supporting these features is Shimano's innovative, foldable body structure called Armor Boost.

The challenge with glide baits is that their body shape causes high air resistance during flight, resulting in poor castability. The development started with the goal of fully drawing out the glide action while improving castability.

Initially, adopting the already proven Armor Boost was considered a potential solution, but glide baits are characterized by large side-to-side glide actions created by the limited range of motion at the joint. Expanding the range of motion and expressing a seductive swimming action requires a structure fundamentally different from Armor Boost. While seeking a solution in Armor Boost, the development of a new Armor Boost that maximizes the features of glide baits began.

The development of a mechanism that, during casting, folds the body like the Armor Joint to reduce air resistance and increase distance, while during action, limits the range of motion at the joint to produce a large glide action. The development process was extremely difficult, but it led to the invention of a lock mechanism that changes the range of motion by moving a metal plate up and down during casting and action.

From the moment of take-back and casting, the body separates front and back under load, and the metal plate expands vertically, increasing the range of motion at the joint (casting position). The body is folded significantly, producing sufficient distance.

After water entry, magnets embedded in the body attract each other, bringing the front and back into close contact. The gap between the plates narrows, and the joint's range of motion is limited by fitting into the groove inside the body (action position). Narrowing the body’s sway produces a large glide action.

Prevents slicing during casting, a weakness of high air resistance glide baits, and achieves highly accurate casting directly to the targeted spot, while enabling a lively glide action that attracts targets.

The Armor Boost functions when casting at high initial speed with full cast. Its performance may also vary depending on tackle balance.

Custom parts that respond to angler preferences.

The Graviter standard equipment includes four parts: long fin, short fin, joint pad, and tail, enhancing its expandability as a glide bait.

The fin on the back controls the range. The short fin traces stably at about 30cm below the surface, and the long fin at about 60cm. If not attached, it can target the surface layer. It allows immediate tuning to actual feeding ranges on site, covering a wide range. The width of the glide action is adjusted by the joint pad. Attaching it to the rear of the joint reduces the body’s bending angle, producing a larger slide action. The tail, specially designed for Graviter, is key to the glide action. Replacement tails are also included.

Equipped with a multi-eye on the lower jaw, usable regardless of purpose. Adding weight can extend the range, and attaching an assist hook can increase catch rate, enabling flexible approaches depending on the situation.
