Purpose of OT-RS900
The radius (r) of the curved cable routed from the bike frame to the RD-R9100, as shown in the image below, is smaller compared to the radius generated by other rear derailleurs. The commonly used outer casing OT-SP41 is too stiff for such small radii and may affect derailleur adjustment and rear wheel removal. Using the optimal rigidity OT-RS900 can avoid such problems. **OT-RS900 should only be used on the derailleur side. Do not use on the shift/brake lever side.
Assembly of OT-RS900
The length of OT-RS900 must be correctly adjusted based on the bike frame dimensions. Maintaining proper performance is important. When adjusting the length, the OT-RS900 must be cut from the appropriate side. One of the two ends is flared. Attach it so that the flared end faces the derailleur side.
Riding-appropriate techniques
The secret to its performance lies in the polymer coating. Under a microscope, it looks as if a thin tube is wrapped around the inner cable.
This structure reduces the sliding surface area of the liner inside the housing and helps retain grease at the sliding parts over the long term.
