[Cause of Strange Noises?]
The main cause of strange noises during retrieval, such as rattling, whirring, or scraping sounds.
To determine if replacement is needed, lightly flick the bearing with your finger as shown in the image; if it makes a scraping sound, it's time to replace it.
The line roller is subjected to particularly harsh conditions and heavy use among reel components.
Due to its structure, it lacks a seal, making it prone to immediate rusting when exposed to saltwater.
Even regular lubrication with high-performance oil will not prevent damage.
This is because, for example, if you retrieve 100 times a day at a depth of 100m offshore, it's equivalent to rolling 10km.
For a miniature bearing the size of the tip of your little finger, this is the worst possible working condition, comparable to a "black company."
Depending on usage, replacement once a year is recommended.
