Model Designed for Two-Slip Tide Conditions
An item specialized for inserting into points and escaping strong currents
This time, when developing a new jig, we focused on the theme of "jigs capable of conquering two-slip and three-slip tides." Testing areas included the Pacific Ocean (western Kochi Prefecture), the Sea of Japan, Tokunoshima, and Okinawa, primarily with 180g jigs. The tackle used included Evergreen Slow Jocker 3oz, 4oz, 6oz; High Pitch Jocker 504, 600; OCEA Jigger 1500HG, NR2000HG; and Murphy's.
Under conditions of two-slip tides, the water pressure and strong current resistance exceeded expectations, causing line slack to be greater than anticipated. With normal jigs, movement was minimal, and it became difficult to reach the bottom quickly. Therefore, Spanky prioritized precise insertion into the point and efficient current escape, conducting thorough testing.
During testing, there were instances where fish were not caught, or caught during the lift but not during the fall. To reduce current resistance and improve current escape, the placement, front/back position, and height of the added segments significantly affected the jig's movement. Repeated testing was conducted, thoroughly catching bluefish and grouper (rockfish), leading to the completion of a jig that met our standards.
While primarily based on slow pitch, this Spanky jig also responds well to fast retrievals and can entice fish during the fall, making it a jig that any angler will surely be satisfied with. Please experience its performance firsthand.
