"Japanese black tea," which you may have heard of recently, is, as the name suggests, black tea made from Japanese tea leaves, characterized by its mellow taste with little astringency. When you hear "black tea," you might imagine origins like India or Sri Lanka, such as Darjeeling or Uva.However, black tea and Japanese green tea are made from the same type of tea leaves. Japanese green tea is made without fermenting the leaves, while black tea is made by fermenting them. This Japanese black tea we are offering is made from high-quality tea leaves, commonly enjoyed as Japanese green tea, cultivated right here in Shiga Prefecture, where our shop is located. It not only has a wonderful aroma but also a subtle, refreshing umami taste reminiscent of Japanese green tea, with a natural sweetness that can be enjoyed even when drunk straight without sugar.Shiga Prefecture, the birthplace of Japanese green tea, boasts many tea-producing regions where excellent Japanese green tea leaves are grown.Japanese black tea is gaining popularity and is produced in various regions across Japan. We want to deliver the deliciousness of Japanese black tea made from the high-quality tea leaves of Shiga Prefecture to everyone. With this desire, we have conducted extensive research and discovered a Japanese black tea that we truly believe is delicious. Please enjoy a blissful cup.
[Gorgeous Aroma and Deep Flavor of Summer Harvest]This Japanese black tea is made from tea leaves called "Yabukita."Among the main three tea harvests per year – spring, summer, and autumn – we use the "summer harvest."Summer harvest tea leaves, which have grown under ample sunlight, have more stable quality compared to spring harvest leaves, allowing you to enjoy a rich aroma and deep flavor. The tea leaves, which are long and thin like wire, are slightly chopped and packed into tetra tea bags.Among the easily brewed tea bags, the tetra type allows for proper "jumping" of the tea leaves, which effectively draws out the rich aroma and flavor of the black tea.
[About Nakamura Farm]This Japanese black tea is produced by Nakamura Farm, which has been cultivating tea for 100 years in Tsuchiyama Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, located in the southeastern part of Shiga, bordering Mie Prefecture at the Suzuka Mountains.Tsuchiyama Town, with its long history, is said to be the birthplace of tea in Omi (Shiga Prefecture) and has been producing high-quality tea since ancient times.Among the tea gardens in Tsuchiyama Town, Nakamura Farm is situated at the highest elevation of 420 meters. They manage cultivation under conditions where the temperature is 2-3°C lower than at lower elevations throughout the year. Tea cultivated under these conditions is known as "Sen no Kiku Ocha" (tea that yields multiple infusions), with a rich taste and aroma that can be enjoyed for the second and third infusions from the same tea leaves.Furthermore, through meticulous garden management, they achieve the production of high-quality tea. Nakamura Farm is a noteworthy tea farm, having received a 5-star award at the Premium Tea Contest 2023 and the runner-up prize at the Domestic Black Tea Grand Prix 2023.
[How to Brew Delicious Japanese Black Tea]1. Bring water to a full boil. Before adding the tea bag, pour a small amount of hot water into the cup to warm it.2. Discard the warming water, then pour freshly boiled water into the cup again.3. Immediately add one tea bag, cover, and let it steep gently for 2-3 minutes.4. Gently lift the tea bag from the water, allowing any excess liquid to drip off.
*This is a basic brewing method. Please adjust the amount of water and steeping time to your preference.
