A railway journey connecting three lines. The Sendai Airport Line, commonly known as the "Sendai Airport Access Line," opened in March 2007. It connects Sendai Airport and Sendai in approximately 17 minutes at its fastest. The train cars are SAT721 series, featuring clear blue and orange colors.
The Abukuma Express was established as a third-sector railway in 1984. In 1988, the entire line opened with the completion of the Marumori to Fukushima section, which had not yet been constructed. The AB900 series, based on the E721 series, was introduced as a successor to the aging 8100 series. Since 2020, it has been running on the JR Tohoku Main Line.
The journey begins by boarding a SAT721 series train from Sendai Airport. From Natori, the train enters the JR Tohoku Main Line towards Sendai. From Sendai, board an AB900 series train towards Yanagawa. The train runs swiftly on the JR Tohoku Main Line, entering the Abukuma Express Line from槻木. After passing through rural areas and running along the Abukuma River, it arrives at Yanagawa, the central station. From there, transfer to an 8100 series train to continue the railway journey to Fukushima.
