[Herreweghe Re-records Schumann with a Modern Orchestra!]Herreweghe, who has gradually expanded his repertoire from the world of early music and choral conducting, has long been attracting attention for his symphonic repertoire. When he confronts German Romantic works, his overwhelming experience in early music research often plays a significant role. Furthermore, it is important not to forget that he first made his name as a choral conductor and then made famous recordings of choral works with text in Romantic pieces. His approach to music is particularly meaningful in his interpretation of Schumann. Considering that Schumann, who only wrote piano pieces for a long time, had a period of writing only Lieder before composing symphonies, Herreweghe's approach can be said to be the optimal accumulation of experience.Herreweghe has already recorded all of Schumann's symphonies with harmonia mundi france, but at that time he performed with his own period instrument orchestra, the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées. This time, he conducts the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (formerly the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra), a modern instrument orchestra that incorporates the concept of period performance.
