2017, 55th Record Academy Award for "Instrumental Music" category winner! !

The greatest modern pianist, Zimerman, after 25 years, eagerly releases a solo album, a proud completion! An excellent record that depicts the solitary world unique to Schubert's late piano sonatas with elegant dignity!

■ The highly anticipated solo album by the piano charisma after 25 years is finally here!
Christian Zimerman's latest work is his first solo album since the Debussy Preludes recorded in 1991 (after 25 years) and released in 1994 (after 23 years)!
■ Play with rich nuance, a performance full of elegance. It includes Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 20 in A major D959 and No. 21 in B-flat major D960, composed by Schubert two months before his death at age 31. These works have been performed intensively in recent years, and this album is a culmination of that experience.
■ The time has come!
Zimerman, who has a special respect for Schubert's final sonata and Beethoven's late sonatas, was initially afraid. As his 60th birthday approached in December 2016, he turned his motivation to work on Schubert's last sonata, and realized it was time to perform these late works as he entered a new stage of his life.
■ The bond with Kashiwazaki City that produced a solo album after a quarter-century
In 2008, Zimerman performed a concert in Kashiwazaki City to pray for the reconstruction after the Niigata-Chuetsu Offshore Earthquake in 2007, and donated relief funds to Kashiwazaki City. During that time, he promised a concert at the new hall being built as a symbol of reconstruction. In November 2015, a concert was held at the Kashiwazaki City Cultural Hall Alfore, and he found the excellent acoustics ideal for Schubert recordings. With full cooperation from the mayor of Kashiwazaki City and the hall, he recorded the album.
