The Western Three Sacred Ones refers to the collective name for the three principal Buddhas and Bodhisattvas (the Amida Triad) worshipped in the Jodo and Jodo Shinshu schools, who reside in the Western Pure Land.
They are arranged with Amida Nyorai, the central teacher, in the middle, Kannon Bodhisattva on the left, and Seishi Bodhisattva on the right, and are mainly worshipped as objects of faith for the recitation of Nembutsu, wishing for rebirth in the Pure Land after death.
"Amida Nyorai" Amida Nyorai is the teacher of the Western Pure Land, possessing infinite light (wisdom) and lifespan, and is a Buddha who saves all sentient beings.
He is the principal object of worship in the Jodo, Jodo Shinshu, and Ji schools, and is the central figure in the practice of reciting "Namu Amida Butsu."
He is widely worshipped since the Kamakura period due to the "Original Vow" that saves all people regardless of good or evil.
"Kannon Bodhisattva" Kannon Bodhisattva is a symbol of compassion in Mahayana Buddhism, and is a Bodhisattva who hears the voices of people's suffering (sound) and transforms into thirty-three forms to救済.
"Seishi Bodhisattva" Seishi Bodhisattva, along with Kannon Bodhisattva, guides people to the Pure Land and is a symbol of wisdom.
It is believed to救救people suffering with great power, and is especially known as the guardian deity of the Year of the Horse.
It grants wisdom to discern the truth and is believed to bring benefits such as wisdom and household safety.
