[Story]In 2003, Cha Sangdoo (Rain), a 27-year-old man living in a corner of Seoul, is an unmarried father with a 7-year-old daughter. His profession is a "young swallow," seducing wealthy madams to extort money. However, he is forced to live in poverty because he spends two-thirds of the year's expenses on his daughter's medical treatment.
He lost his parents in a traffic accident when he was young and was raised by his uncle. At the age of 10, he was adopted by a wealthy childless couple. He lived a dream-like life where he could do anything he wanted, but this ended after 8 years. As a high school student, he assaulted someone for the girl he loved, causing them to fall into a brain-dead state (they later recover). Due to this incident, he dropped out of high school and was sent to a juvenile detention center. Furthermore, his adoption was terminated.
What supports him are the love of his daughter, Cha Bori (Song Min-ju), and Choi Eun-hwan (Gong Hyo-jin), a woman who has dominated his heart since their fateful encounter. Whenever he is overcome by the urge to take drugs or jump into a river, their love holds him back...
