Samurai Champloo is a TV series animation that was broadcast on the Fuji TV network from 2004 to 2005. It gained worldwide attention for its unprecedented style, which incorporated modern hip-hop culture into a historical drama action while exclusively featuring hip-hop music. The director is Shinichiro Watanabe, who has continued to deliver animations with excellent musical sense since "Macross Plus" and "Cowboy Bebop."
For the music in this work, four track makers were brought in: Nujabes, fat jon, FORCE OF NATURE, and Tsutchie, and each created their original albums in their respective styles.
All of these tracks continue to shine, and they are masterpieces that are still unconditionally passed down among hip-hop artists today.
The first analog release of four titles in the series, released in 2022, was an exceptional hit, selling over 30,000 units.
