ハウス界の超新星、サルートが最新アルバムをリリース！フォー・テット、フローティング・ポインツ、フレッド・アゲインらも称賛するハウス界の超新星、サルート(salute)が、〈NinjaTune〉から最新アルバム『TRUEMAGIC』をリリース。アルバムにはリナ・サワヤマ、ディスクロージャー(Disclosure)、エンプレス・オブ(EmpressOf)、カルマ・キッド(KarmaKid)、サム・ジェライトリー(SamGellaitry)、ピリ(piri)、レア・セン(LeaSen)、レイラ(LEILAH)、そして、なかむらみなみといった豪華ゲストが参加している。
オーストリア・ウィーンで生まれ育ち、現在はマンチェスターを拠点に活動するサルート。サルートがUKクラブ・シーンに足を踏み入れたのは、生まれ育ったウィーンからブライトン、そしてマンチェスターに移り住んだ18歳のときだった。それまではYouTubeやBoilerRoomの映像でしか知らなかったクラブ・カルチャーにそこで本格的に触れることになる。ここからグライム、ガラージ、ダブステップといったジャンルに触れ、その特徴的なサウンドを洗練させていった。
2023年〈NinjaTune〉傘下の〈Technicolour〉からリリースされEP『Shield』は、フォー・テット、DJセインフェルド、フローティング・ポインツ、モール・グラブ、ダフニ、スクリレックス、フレッド・アゲインなどのアーティストからも支持を受け、MOBOAwardsにて【BestElectronic/Dance】にノミネートされた。Coachella、BoilerRoom(Youtubeでの再生回数は100万回超え)、Glastonburyなどで印象的なパフォーマンスを披露し続け、最近ではディスクロージャー、モール・グラブ、ハドソン・モホークと共演し、ジャングルのUSツアーもサポートしている。本作『TRUEMAGIC』で、サルートはよりコラボレーティブなアプローチを採用し、田舎に家を借りて仲間たちとアルバム制作に取り組んでいる。
また、ヴィジュアルからサウンドまで、JDMカルチャーや古い日本の車の広告からインスピレーションを受けたサルートは、何時間もかけてYouTubeを検索し、“TRUEMAGIC"という架空のレースで日本の旧車を走らせるというアルバムのコンセプトを作り上げた。サルートは「両親がVHSで録画した古いテレビの映像を見ているうちに、Youtubeで古い広告を見る楽しみを覚えたんだ。そこから古い車の広告を見るようになり、どこかの時点で日本車の広告に行き当たった」と背景を明かしている。このヴィジュアル・コンセプトは、アルバムのサウンド面も前進させ、疾走感あふれるアルバムが完成した。
