This is the third installment in a series revisiting hidden masterpieces of Toshiba EMI on analog records! In winter 2009, a smoky singing voice carried on a dry acoustic guitar was heard in a mobile phone commercial.
That song, which sounds as if it were a hidden gem from Western music, was created by Ryuji Kiyose, a 19-year-old boy at the time, who was singing in English lyrics.
His extraordinary songwriting talent, his overwhelmingly presence-evoking voice, and his musical style that freely transforms with each album—all of these made him a distinctive and solitary figure in the 21st-century J-POP scene, despite his young age.
This is the first best-of album tracing Ryuji Kiyose’s career from his debut single "Morning Sun," released on March 8, 2009, through to his sixth original album "WORK," spanning four and a half years.
It is truly a must-listen.
