This cover album, themed around Japanese culture, features the acclaimed violinist Ayako Ishikawa, who has gained overwhelming attention on video sites. She performs Japan-made content such as anime, Vocaloid, game songs, and J-POP, which the world proudly boasts. In the summer of 2013, her violin cover video of “The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku” became a hot topic, leading to appearances on numerous TV information programs and music shows.
Since then, Ishikawa has released a trilogy of classical covers including Vocaloid, film music, and anime songs. As a culmination of her work, she now releases an album covering Japan’s proudest songs on violin.
This album features many iconic songs that symbolize 2016, including the popular “Aim for Pokémon Master,” the opening theme of the original Pocket Monster series, which regained popularity due to Pokémon GO; BABYMETAL’s hit song “Megitsune”; the first opening theme of the anime “Osomatsu-san,” “Hanamaru Pippi Hayoiko Dake,” among others.
Additionally, guest musicians from the rapidly rising Japanese instrument band Wagakki Band, Seishi Ibukuro on koto and Daisuke Kami on shakuhachi, participated in the recording!
The artwork also reflects a Japanese theme, creating a cohesive worldview.
