[Cherry Blossoms and Himeji Castle]It is said that the first fortress was built on the land of Himeyama in the era of the Akamatsu clan in the 3rd year of Genkō (1333).Since then, 13 clans and 48 lords have served as castle lords, and it has survived to this day without being stained by the dust of war.After the Akamatsu clan, Hashiba Hideyoshi, Ikeda Terumasa, and Honda Tadamasa entrusted their dreams to the castle as an important base for governing the western provinces, and expanded it. The current complete form was established in the 3rd year of Genna (1617), when the age of war had settled down.Himeji Castle, a National Treasure, was registered as Japan's first World Cultural Heritage site along with Hōryū-ji Temple in Nara in December of the 5th year of Heisei (1993).Himeji Castle has approximately 1,000 cherry trees and has been selected as one of the "100 Famous Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots."The cherry blossom avenue in Sannomaru Hiroba and the Somei Yoshino and weeping cherry trees in Nishinomaru Garden are highlights.
