Saint-Saëns' 'Organ Accompaniment' is one of the symphonies that Ormandy was most skilled at, and he left four recordings of it through mono, stereo, and digital formats. The recording included here is the second recording from 1962, which was performed with the American organist Power Biggs, who was immensely popular in the United States. This recording uses the Eolian-Skiner organ at the Academy of Music, the home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, making it a rare example of Sony Classical stereo recording done in the same hall. The 'Carnival of the Animals' recorded in 1968 was not released during the LP era and only saw the light of day in 1996; it features the renowned American pianist Claude Frank performing one of the piano parts.
